Summer Drummer Days 2025
• Percussion Camps include exploring snare drum, drum set, keyboard percussion, auxiliary percussion, hand drums, and sound effects. Students will develop technique, grip, performance skills, and proper stick and mallet selection for each instrument.
• Great Start Elementary Camps include learning to count, read, and play fundamental rhythms. Students will apply this new skill to explore playing; hand drums, buckets, snare, keyboard percussion, auxiliary percussion, and sound effects instruments.
• Drum Set Camps include learning various drum set styles, grooves, fills, songs, and learning how to improvise.
• Percussion Ensembles are by audition or recommendation. Each percussion ensemble will learn and rehearse new music for a concert the last 30 minutes of camp on Friday.
Week 1 – June 2-6 (all day camp)
9:00-3:30 Senior Percussion Ensemble, rising grades 9-12
(By my invitation or audition, and Band/Orchestra Director recommendation.)
Students will present a short concert in the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
Week 2 – June 9-13 (all day camp)
9:00– 3:30 Junior Percussion Ensemble, rising grades 6-8
(By my invitation or audition).
Students will present a short concert in the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
Week 3 – June 16-20 (all day camp)
9:00 – 3:30 Intermediate/Advanced Drum Set, rising grades 9-12
(For students with 2 years+ of lessons, or by evaluation, audition, or recommendation by myself.) We will learn several styles and play lots of charts with recordings and drumless tracks. We will also explore linear drumming, improvisation, solos, and how to write a quick format chart. Students will present a short concert in the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
Week 4 – June 23-27 (all day camp)
9:00 – 3:30 Beginning/Intermediate Drum Set, rising grades 7-9
* This camp is for drummers with some experience. We will learn the fundamentals of rhythms, playing in time, grooves, and fills. We will apply this by playing along with recordings and drumless tracks! Students are encouraged to bring their drum sets. This is a great opportunity to get your set tuned and learn how to set up. Sets are provided for those with no drum set at home, or if you do not want to bring your own drum set. Students will present a short concert in the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
Week 5 – July 7-11 (half-day camps)
8:45 – 11:45 Beginning Drum Set, rising grades 3-5
* This camp is for beginners with little or no experience. We will learn the fundamentals of rhythms, playing in time, grooves, and fills. We will apply this by playing along with some great drumless tracks! Students are encouraged to bring their drum sets. This is a great opportunity to get your set tunes and learn how to set up. Sets are provided for those with no drum set at home, or if you do not want to bring your own drum set. Students will present a short concert in the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
12:30 – 3:30 Beginning Drum Set, rising grades 5-7
* This camp is for beginners with little or no experience. We will learn the fundamentals of rhythms, playing in time, grooves, and fills. We will apply this by playing along with some great drumless tracks! Students are encouraged to bring their drum sets. This is a great opportunity to get your set tunes and learn how to set up. Sets are provided for those with no drum set at home, or if you do not want to bring your own drum set. Students will present a short concert in the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
Week 6 – July 14-18 (all day camp)
9:00-3:30 Middle School Percussion, rising grades 6-8
* In this camp we will learn various new rhythms and different meters. (Time Signatures). We will develop snare technique, rudiments, and rolls. We will learn techniques of how to play many of the auxiliary percussion instruments, as well has hand drums and Latin percussion instruments, as well as a little bit of drum set. We will develop fundamental keyboard percussion technique and gain a familiarity, and level of comfort around the keyboard. The students will learn good mallet choices for each instrument or situation. The students will apply their new skills in learning a some percussion ensemble pieces. Students will present a short concert the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
Week 7 – July 21-25 (half day camp)

* This camp is for beginners. We will learn fundamental rhythms and apply this new skill to explore playing hand drums, buckets, snare, keyboard percussion, auxiliary percussion, and sound effects. Students will present a short concert in the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
Week 8 –July 28-August 1 (half day camp)
AM 8:45 – 11:45 Great Start Elementary Percussion, rising grades 4-5
* This camp is for beginners. We will learn fundamental rhythms and apply this new skill to explore playing hand drums, buckets, snare, keyboard percussion, auxiliary percussion, and sound effects. Students will present a short concert in the last 20 minutes of their Friday session.
Half-Day Camps are $200.00 (non-refundable deposit of $100.00) with $100.00 balance due on or before the first day of camp.
Full-day camps are $325.00 (non-refundable deposit of $125.00) with $200.00 balance due on or before the first day of camp.
